Academy's Infrastructure and Grateful Acknowledment to Donors

The Executive Committee has identified priority areas for modernization and upgradation. Donors have been extremely generous and spontaneous in the cause of this great institution.

Our Grateful thanks are due to: Mr. Venu Srinivasan through his company TVS Motors Ltd, for his handsome donation of Rs.20 lakhs towards replacement of seats at Ground Floor; Mr.Suresh Krishna through his company Sundram Fasteners Ltd., for his donation of Rs.5 lakhs; in both these cases we have received the first half of their total donation and the balance is expected in the coming weeks; Mr. C. Sivasankaran of Sterling Group in the name of his father Mr. R.Chinnakannan for his donation of Rs.25 lakhs; Mr. R. Srinivasan of Redington India and his son Mr. Ashok Srinivasan for a new Bose Acoustics System at a cost of Rs.31 lakhs; Mr. A.Sivasailam and Mrs.Indira Sivasailam in the name of "Sivasailam Charities" for a donation of Rs.20 lakhs for the digitization, development and use of our valuable archives and The Hindu for a donation of Rs.25 lakhs. Further, substantial donations have been indicated by HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services.

The ground floor seats have been-replaced with modern and comfortable ones from a leading firm in Mumbai, together with carrying out the necessary flooring work.

The much needed and the important work relating to replacement of transformer with a higher capacity one and its consequent shifting from the front side to the rear of the building is complete. The other connected, major electrical works are also completed. The western side of the Auditorium, at the rear, has been developed for a permanent location for the cafeteria, freeing up some of the current canteen space for additional parking facilities.

The Academy now has separate entrance and exit gates that will help reduce congestion and traffic hold-ups within and outside our premises.

The new Bose Acoustics system has been installed and this year all of you will have the pleasure and experience of enjoying the season with our own high quality, state of the art audio system instead of through, a hired system, as in the last two years.

The project for the digitization of archives will start soon after the season. It is also planned to take up the installation of a new, energy saving and efficient air-conditioning system before the summer.

It is our dream to provide vastly improved infrastructure and ambience for the comfort and listening pleasure of our members and rasikas.

The seat replacement work in the balcony would be taken up immediately after the dance festival.

It may be pointed out that the overall modernization project is being carried out with the architectural help and supervision of Mr. P.T.Krishnan, one of Chennai's leading architects.
