June 4-6 between 9 am and 1 pm everyday Rare Compositions Workshop at The Music Academy

The Music Academy will be organizing a workshop, second in the series of three scheduled for the year.

While the first workshop was on Manodharma which was organized during March , the second one will be on ‘Rare compositions of Shyama Sastry, Annaswami Sastry and Subbaraya Sastry’. The workshop will be conducted by Vidushi Rama Ravi  who is known for her authentic repertoire of Padams, Javalis and rare compositions. Assisted by her daughter disciple Nandita, Vidushi Rama Ravi will be dealing with two compositions for each of the three composers.

The workshop is scheduled for three days during June 4-6 between 9 am and 1 pm everyday.

Printouts of the lyrics with transliteration and translation will be given to the participants along with an audio CD of the lyrics as taught during the workshop.

Registration for the Workshop is open from Monday, May 10,2010 until seats are filled. Registration fee is Rs.200 per person.

Workshop on Manodharma
March 25-27 from 9am to 1 pm at the Kasturi Srinivasan Hall
Workshop on Manodharma

The Music Academy is planning to organize a series of workshops during this year. First among these will be a three day Workshop on Manodharma dealing with many components which constitute the core characteristics of Carnatic Music, useful to both students of music and initiated rasikas.

The three day workshop by Vidushi Smt. RS Jayalakshmi and renowned Violinist RK Sriram Kumar will be held during March 25-27 from 9am to 1 pm at the Kasturi Srinivasan Hall.

The workshop is open to students of music and rasikas. Persons desirous of participating may register by paying Rs.100 (one hundred only) at The Music Academy office during working hours on all working days from March 1, 2010. Bonafide music students can avail concession in the registration fee.

There are limited seats and registration is open on first come first served basis and closes soon after the required number is reached.
