Abstract:

In the history of carnatic music the concept of shruti is of paramount importance. The tambura that provides the adhara shruti in a concert is the most important and delightful of instruments that inspires the musical edifice that is showcased in a concert. This lecdem will cover aspects of the artistry and the nuances of this wonderful instrument. The lecdem will also include a conversation with Sri Dakshinamurti, a renowned craftsman of the tambura.
