‘Nedunuri Antarangam’ is an autobiography of Carnatic music maestro Sangita Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurthy. Two of his ardent fans — Thyagaraju and Narayan, have penned this autobiography, collecting material from his Telugu autobiography titled “Nadayogi”, supplementing it with information gathered during long discussions with the maestro himself over several sittings.
As mentioned in the Foreword written by vidwan G. Balasubramaniam, the book is an inspiring account of his personal struggles against odds in learning and mastering Carnatic music. In addition, it provides valuable instructions shared by Nedunuri about learning, teaching and presenting Carnatic music without diluting it. The veteran vocalist was renowned for the charm, classicism and refinement of his music.
The book has been structured into five sections. The first chalks out his life-story, the second describes his professional aspect, the third provides insights into Nedunuri’s experience and beliefs about various facets of music, and the fourth contains encomiums written by eminent musicians and rasikas. There is an additional section with articles by his family members providing interesting glimpses into his persona.
The book makes interesting reading.
